Hyderabad, 10 Oct 2023 ( Ali Abbas, PMI ): A man was sentenced to life and to pay a fine of Rs 32,000 for sexually abusing and impregnating a minor girl under POCSO Act.
According to Shadnagar Police, Cyberabad, the crime occurred prior to May 25, 2017 at Farooqnagar mandal, Ranga Reddy district. The minor girl and the accused live in same village. The accused Pujari Pandu used to follow the victim and befriended her and induced her with false promise of marrying her. Even though the victim refused, the accused forcibly raped her and impregnated her. After she conceived, the accused refused to marry her because she belongs to SC community.
As per the complaint’s version, Shadnagar PS , SHO Rakshitha K Murthy, IPS, registered a case in Cr.No: 264/2017 U/S 376 (2) (1)(n) 417,420 IPC and sec 3 (a) and 4 of POCSO act and sec 3 (1)(w)(I) (2) (v) of SC/ST POA Act Spl SC 143/2018. After completion of investigation, a charge-sheet was filed in the court concerned. After the trial, the FTSC and POCSO Court at Shadnagar convicted the accused Poojari Pandu to undergo life imprisonment and imposed fine of Rs 32,000/. The judge also awarded to victim a compensation Rs 10,00,000/- and for male child Rs 5,00,000/-
