HC angry over stoppage of ambulances at Telangana borders

Hyderabad, May 14 (PMI): The Telangana High Court today express its anger over the decision of the state government to stop the ambulances which are coming from neighbouring state Andhra Pradesh, on the borders of the state. It asked the state government as to who gave the power to the state government to stop the ambulances from entering into the state  at the borders. It made these remarks while dealing with a house motion petition filed by Retired IRS officer Venkata Krishna Rao .

In his petition, he told the HC that the state government was stopping the vehicles on the borders of the state in an illegal Manner. He urged the HC to declare the decision of the State government as illegal and urged it to allow the ambulances of AP into the State.

 The advocate general of the state BS Prasad said that Covid patients from four states of the country like AP, Chattisgarh, Karmataka and Maharashtra. He also said that they were not denying beds to those who have obtained prior permission from the private hospitals of the State . He said that the patients of the state were suffering due to shortage of beds at the private hospitals. He said that they had already asked the patients from the various states of the country to come to the state after confirming their beds at the hospitals. He said that states like Delhi had imposed restrictions on the entry of the people from other states.

Responding to this, the HC said that none of the states had stopped the ambulances while wondering if it was not the violation of Indian constitution . It asked the state government of the  people of the state were also reserving beds in the hospitals of their choice before visiting the city.

The Principal Secretary of Health Medical and Family Welfare Rizvi told the HC that they imposed restrictions to prevent the spread of the Covid 19 virus.

The advocate general of AP  Sriram Told the HC said that the stoppage of the vehicles and their passengers would be nothing but the violations of existing laws and Indian constitution.

 The HC stayed the orders issued by the state government on the issue of the entry of the vehicles and ambulances into the state from neighbouring AP state. It later adjourned the matter to 17th of this month. (PMI)
