Hyderabad, Feb.3 (PMI): Terming the union budget a boost to speed up economy of the country, Telangana state BJP president Dr K Laxman said budget was welcomed by all walks of people including poor and middle class.
Addressing a press conference at state BJP office here, Dr Laxman said Modi government has presented the budget to fulfill aspirations of the people who gave a massive mandate to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman gave tax relief to salaried people which would boost purchase power of the people, he said.
Dr Laxman said the finance minister also gave top priority for education sector, for enhancing national infrastructure, skill development and promotion of Industry and the centre also envisaged a 16 point action formula to double income of farmers in the country
Stating that both centre and states should jointly work for development of the nation, the state BJP president suggested the state governments to explore possibility of new and more revenue resources by formulating new schemes for development programmes.
He decried the comment of Municipal Administration minister KTR who commented on union budget that the central government has not allotted a single paise extra to the State. Being an educated person KTR should understand that the central government would allocate funds ministry wise, various departments wise and on the basis of projects took up for the welfare of people, but not to fillup your packets in the name of major projects.
He said several central government schemes are not implemented in the state as the TRS government failed to allocate its share which deprived people getting benefit of central government schemes initiated by the Modi government. To cover up the TRS government inefficiency and failures, KTR is indulging in disseminating false information about the central government funds and levelling baseless allegations against the BJP, Dr Laxman alleged and asked KTR how much funds were brought by KCR to the state when he was minister in UPA government at the centre. Throwing a challenge to KTR, Dr Laxman said the party is ready for an open debate on the central funds released by the Modi government to Telangana state.
Taking a jibe at Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi who commented that union budget was like a long movie without interval, Dr Laxman said Modi government always works for 24X7 for the welfare of people without interval. He should watch the film till end, then only he can understand, he said.
Dr Laxman felicitated 12 corporators and counselors including a muslim woman corporator elected from Mahabubnagar and Bhutpur municipality. State party vice president Malla Reddy, general secretary Chinta Sambamurthy, former MP Jitender Reddy, media in-charge Sadashiv Sharma were also present at the press conference
