TS, AGA KHAN TRUST SIGN DEAL TO RENOVATE QUTUB SHAHI TOMBS

Hyderabad, Dec.6 (PMI): Telangana Government and Aga Khan International Trust today signed a deal to renovate historical Qutub Shahi Tombs and make it a famous tourist spot in the city. It was estimated to spend Rs 100 cr by the Trust and the Centre announced to offer Rs 98 cr for the renovation of the project.
The officials of the Tourism and Archeology Department and Aga Khan Trust signed the deal at Secretariat here for renovating and reconstructing the famous seven tombs. Later, Tourism and Archeology Secretary B Venkatesham said they have signed the deal with the Trust to renovate the Tombs to be completed in 10 years.
Aga Khan International Trust is noted for renovating historical structures and monuments like Humayun Tombs in Delhi and maintaining them, he said. Trust has decided to spend its own funds of Rs 100 crore for the project and the Centre has allocated Rs 98 crore towards its contribution, Venkatesham said.
It was planned to bring back past glory to the tombs with lush green precincts, gardens and facilities to get original look, he said. He also said they have exchanged the agreements for renovating and reconstructing the old tombs to get attractive look to attract tourists.
