GHMC’s special contribution to economic empowerment of women

Hyderabad, Dec.16 (PMI): GHMC is contributing to women’s development with the intention that if women become financially self-reliant, the entire family will advance economically and socially. In order to to create independent sources of income and to improve the living standards of women, the GHMC was providing all facilities in this regard.

The GHMC contributes to the creation of sources of income while providing bank loans. Out of 4,846 colonies in the city, some 3,000 colonies have been given an opportunity to women of self-help groups to increase greenery. As part of this, if the planting, watering and maintenance of plants are carried out for three years, 100 percent in the first year, 60 percent in the second year, and 40 percent  fund in the third year will be provided for efficient management.

This innovative program has brought good recognition to GHMC across the State. In this financial year, the disbursement of loans targeted Rs 467.19 crore to 8973 Self Help Societies in six zones. So far, loans worth Rs 372,33,60,000 were sanctioned through bank loans to 4890 self-help groups.

In LB Nagar zone, loans worth  Rs 55.861 crore have been distributed to 786 societies.
In Charminar Zone, Loans worth Rs 30,29,55,000  have been distributed to 678 self-help groups. In Khairatabad zone, loans worth Rs 30,14,55,000 were distributed to 431 women groups. In Serilingampally zone, loans worth Rs 60,76,60,000 have been given to 783 groups.
In Kukatpally Zone, Loans worth Rs 134,54,68,000 have been given to 1228 Self-Help Groups.
In Secunderabad Zone, loans worth Rs 61,49,61,000 have been given to Self-Help Groups. Associations in Secunderabad Zone, Rs 61,4900061 have been disbursed to 984 Self-Help Groups.
