CENTRAL ZONE TASK FORCE APPREHENDED (02) PERSONS AND SEIZED (40) BANNED E-CIGARETTES WORTH OF RS. 1,00,000/-

Hyderabad’Jan 21 2023- Commissioner’s Task Force, Central Zone team along with begum Bazar police, on credible information apprehended two persons namely 01) Mohammad Abdul Razzack @ Ameer Hamza, and 02) Mohammad Abdul Qader Alias Faraz, who are selling banned Electronic Cigarettes near Shezan Hotel, Gandhi Bhavan in the limits of Begum Bazar PS.

Details of apprehended persons :

01) Mohammad Abdul Razzack @ Ameer Hamza, S/o Md Abdul Sayeed, Age 19 years, R/o H. No. 1-16-305, New Bowenpally, Pension Lane, Secunderabad.

02) Mohammad Abdul Qader Alias Faraz, S/o Md Feroz Pasha, Age 18 years, R/o H.No. 1-4-65, New Bowenpally, Pension Lane, Secunderabad.

Facts of the case:
The facts of the case are that, since few days the accused persons posting the adds regarding E-Cigarettes in social media i.e. Facebook, Instagram by creating the page styled as “Vapes Hyderabad” and attracting the consumers who are mostly college students and teenagers. On order, they are purchasing E-Cigarettes from Mumbai through courier for the price of one piece Rs. 1200/- and selling the same to needy customers Rs. 2500/- by delivering on their two wheeler vehicle by violating the rules under COTP Act and gaining illegal profits by charging higher price.

As Telangana State has banned the sale, manufacture, distribution and storage of noxious tobacco and all its variants. Recently Central Government promulgated an Ordinance to ban electronic cigarettes in India. The accused planned to earn easy money by way of selling of banned noxious tobacco contents in the market as it has much demand and gaining easy profits illegally and violated the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTP Act).

On credible information the Commissioner’s Task Force, Central Zone Team, Hyderabad along with Begum Bazar police apprehended the above accused persons and seized the following mentioned property.

Property Seized:
1) Banned E-Cigarettes – 40 x Rs.2500/- each (Worth of Rs.1,00,000/-)
2) Two Mobile Phones
3) Two wheeler Activa vehicle White Color
The apprehended accused persons along with seized property were handed over to SHO, Begum Bazar PS for further investigation.
The arrests were made under the supervision of Sri. P. Radha Kishan Rao, Dy.Commissioner of Police (OSD), Commissioner’s Task Force, Hyderabad by Sri. R. Raghunath, Inspector of Police, Commissioner’s Task Force, Central Zone, SI Sri. S. Sai Kiran and staff of Central Zone Task Force, Hyderabad.
