. Will review poll debacle soon: KTR

Hyderabad, May 28 (PMI): TRS working president and former minister K Tarakarama Rao today said his party did not expect the loss in the Lok Sabha polls.

In an interaction with media here today, KTR said while the TRS lost some seats and got nine Lok Sabha seats, the BJP got four and Congress three seats. Though this was not a big victory for the Congress, Nizamabad seat lost by incumbent Kavitha was quite different. “In spite of the defeat, I do not feel that I have failed as the party working president at the poll results”, KTR said.

“We never expected this to happen and will think on the loss in the polls. The BJP and the Congress colluded to defeat Kavitha in Nizamabad segment. Despite our best efforts, the TRS lost in some places though vote bank has increased”, he claimed. The Congress roped in many candidates in Nizamabad Lok Sabha fray against the TRS, who has to lose it, he said.

The minister said, “We will sure win majority of the seats in the local body polls”, he asserted. The TRS will maintain better relations with the Centre based on some issues, KTR said. The government will not compromise with the BJP when it comes to State’s issues. In Sircilla Assembly segment, the BJP got 3,000 votes and this time it got 50,000 and it did not expect the result in Adilabad segment. “Modi wave could not stop us from winning the seats and leaders like Deve Gowda and Rahul Gandhi have lost the polls”, he noted.

KTR also said former minister Harish Rao was cornered by the party leadership. There was also no truth that the TRS failed to field right candidates in the poll fray as it faced debacle. The TRS will focus on the poll debacle on completion of the process for local bodies’ elections. He rejected the comments that the TRS would have suffered a lot if it had gone with the nation for general elections rather than advancing them to December last year. There was no truth in it, he said. (PMI)
