Revanth demands white paper on power purchase deals & power generation

Hyderabad,  Demanding that the State government release a white paper on power purchase from Chattisgarh State and reasons for appointment of non-cadre IAS officers in Genco posts, Congress leader A Revanth Reddy today asked the government to convene and all-party meeting on the subject.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Wednesday, Revanth Reddy reminded that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had said in the Assembly on November 10, 2014 that he would produce 21,000MW within three years. “Then I said I would honour the Chief Minister if he produced at least 15,000MW power. If not, the Chief Minister should tender apologies to the people in the House”, he said.
Alleging that the Yadadri and Bhadradri power projects were not started yet and the Green Tribunal filed cases against 23 officers for signing the files following directions from the State government. He also alleged that the State government favored India Bulls firm of Gujarat and purchased boilers, which were manufactured with substandard technology at a cost of Rs 3,000 crore.
The State government also gave civil works to the  BHEL, which was an expert in Mechanical and Electrical works only. Asking the State government as to why it purchased the Sub-Critical technology products, which were banned by the Union government, for Bhadradri power project, Revanth Reddy alleged that the heads of the State government were going to take one lakh crore loans in the name of power projects. He also asked the State government as to why it was appointing non-IAS cadre officers in Telangana Genco keeping IAS officers aside. He alleged that the government was appointing non-cadre officers thinking that IAS officers will not do favours for them”.
Alleging that there were irregularities in 24-hour power supply to farmers’ scheme, Revanth Reddy said there was no power supply to 19 thandas in Bommaraspally mandal in his Kodangal. Stating that the government was purchasing power for 24-hour power supply only for the sake of commissions, Revanth Reddy said he was ready for an open debate on irregularities taking place in power purchase.
The Congress leader also said the State government sent back Rajastan IAS cadre Telangana person Ramesh when he questioned power purchase irregularities. The state government was purchasing power at high price for the sake of commissions, he said that the centre was stating that it was ready to provide power at low price but in vain.
