Cow protection is duty of every Indian: Minister

Hyderabad,  Protecting the Cow is not just the responsibility of Hindus, but also of every Indian citizen, Union Minister of State Hansraj Ahir said here today.
Speaking after visiting Satyam Shivam Sundaram Gau Nivas at Gaganpahad in Rajendra Nagar here today, Union minister said, “Cows are partners in technology and helped develop rural India. Cow slaughter is already illegal in the country and 24 out of 29 States have various regulations prohibiting either slaughter or sale of cows. Mere slogans would not stop cow slaughter. We must make people realize the importance of cow peacefully”, he observed.
Stressing the need for setting up more shelters to protect cows from slaughtering, he said the cow is useful in many ways. It’s urine is used in medicine. He urged the State government to stop the smuggling of cows. He appreciated Dharam Raj Ranka, a 77 years old jeweler from the city, who dedicated his life for the protection of the cow and set up Satyam Shivam Sundaram Gau Nivas and running it successfully by giving shelter to 5,300 cows rescued from slaughter houses.
