Hyderabad, Aug.16 (PMI): TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday demanded that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao immediately stop the idea of extraction of uranium, which was ruining the lives of Chenchu tribals in the area. He wrote an open letter to the CM on the issue.
In his letter, Uttam Kumar Reddy told the Chief Ministr that they had information about the permission granted by Union government to carry out uranium extraction at Lambapur area of Nagarjunasagar and Amrabad area of Nagarkurnool district. He said they also had information about completion of all kinds of surveys to carry out extraction. He told the CM about the issuance of no-objection certificate to Uranium Corporation of India to carry out extraction of uranium in the State. He said the move of the State government had created a fear among the Chenchu tribals in the State. (PMI)
