Hyderabad, Dec.8 (PMI): The Election Commission of India has formally approved the request of changing the name of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) as Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
In a letter to TRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao issued by the the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday, it said ” the Commission has accepted your request for the change in the name of your party from ‘Telangana Rashtra Samithi’ to Bharat Rashtra Samithi. The necessary notification in this regard will be issued in due course,”.
Meanwhile, TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao has directed party leaders to make arrangements for a ceremony at Telangana Bhavan at 1.20 PM on Friday, to formally change the party’s name. Necessary formalities to complete the transformation into the national party also will be conducted on the occasion.
KCR will unveil the party flag and will explain the party’s future course of action. Ministers, MLAs, MLCs, party presidents of all districts and other leaders have been asked to attend the programme in Telangana Bhavan.(PMI)
