Revanth sees “game” in drug case, wants probe handed over to Central agencies

Hyderabad: Alleging that the attitude of the State government was suspicious in dealing with the drug trafficking case and giving exemptions to the pubs belonging to ruling party leaders, Telangana TDP working president A Revanth Reddy said they would meet Governor ESL Narasimhan and plead with him to send a report to the Centre. He also made it clear that they would lodge a complaint with the Union Home Ministry on the issue.

Speaking to the media here on Monday, Revanth Reddy said the TTDP will submit a memorandum to the Excise officials first and they will meet the Governor if the Excise officials failed to respond to their plea. He alleged that the State government was trying to trouble the persons it dislikes by using the drug case. Reminding the Chief Minister his statement that his government would not spare any one including his party leaders, Revanth Reddy opined that the case must be handed over the case to the Central agencies as the case has links with other States and nations. “There is a need to make Narcotic Department, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) to interfere in the case”, he said. He demanded the state government to address letters to the Narcotic, DRI and ED on drugs issue.

Revanth Reddy alleged that the Excise Department was ignoring some pubs being run by influential people. He alleged that brother-in-law of an important person in the State government and a son of senior minister and some TRS leaders were running pubs in Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills. He also alleged that the Excise Department was not bothered about the pubs being run by TRS leaders till wee hours. He said he had lodged a complaint with Akun Sabarwal on the pubs belonging to TRS leaders. He also said the demand increased to the pubs of TRS leaders with the closure of pubs of others.

The TTDP leader also accused the Excise department of making a fuss by issuing notices to those who have no political importance. He also ridiculed the State government saying that it created a hangama in the beginning in the cases of EAMCET, Nayeem Case and Bodhan Scam and later weakened them. The government’s attitude in the drugs case also suspicious, he alleged and demanded that the State government address letters to the Narcotic, DRI and ED immediately and ensure the real culprits are caught.
