New Delhi: M. Venkaiah Naidu who was picked up for the post of Vice President of India as NDA candidate has resigned from the post of Urban Development Minister. He is the Minister of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Information and Broadcasting in the Modi administration.
Smriti Irani, has been given additional charge of Information and Broadcasting Ministry who holds the Textile Ministry, The Urban Development Minister portfolio has been given to Narendra Singh Tomar.
- Venkaiah Naidu a prominent leader of the BJP Naidu has also served as its national president from 2002 to 2004. Bhartiya Janta Party President Amit Shah announced his candidature for the post of Vice Presidential election after a 90-minute meeting of the BJP’s Central Parliamentary Board chaired by Shah and attended by top leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Mr Naidu both as a student leader and political figure, he gained prominence as a brilliant orator, who vigorously championed the cause of the farmers and the development of backward areas. His oratory skills and political activism propelled his political career and he was elected as an MLA to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly twice from Udayagiri constituency in Nellore district in 1978 and 1983. He rose to become one of the most popular leaders of the BJP in Andhra Pradesh.
