‘Karbala’ gives us lesson to fight against cruel: Anjani Kumar

MELBOURNE/ HYDERABAD DECCAN: Not only Sunni and Shia Muslims but also followers of the other religions observe Muharram in India and worldwide according to their own beliefs. Many Shia Muslims observe Muharram as a month of mourning. The 10th of Muharram marks as Aashura, the date when carnage took place at Karbala and when Hazrat Imam Hussain (Alaihiss-Salam/ AS), the grandson of Prophet of Islam, Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (Peace Be Upon Him/ PBUH) martyred along with His other 71 companions in 680 CE. Not all Muslim groups observe this occasion in the same manner. Some Muslims regard Muharram as the month of mourning, commemorating the Battle of Karbala. Muharram is primarily an Islamic holiday but people of other religions may also take part in or observe the Muharram activities in India.

A large number of public processions, gatherings (Majalis) and other religious activities remain continued till the 8th of Rabilawal  (third month of Islamic calendar) which called as ‘Muharram Days’ and during the entire period the security and safety of the participants and to maintain the law and order across the country are definitely a biggest challenges of Law Enforcing Agencies (LEAs) especially in Hyderabad and surroundings and in this continuation the City Police always have been trying to place massive arrangements with the assistance and cooperation of all stakeholders.

These were the views of Sri Anjani Kumar, the Commissioner of Police Hyderabad City delivered to an impressive audience consisted on prominent and distinguished personalities of India at Royal Classic Function Hall, Etebar Chowk (Old City) under the title of Muharram-2019 Coordination and Arrangements Meeting yesterday.

All Police officials and invited Religious personalities including Ulemas (religious scholars), Matami Anjumans & Grohaans, Mutawallis of Aashoorkhanas, MLA, MLC, President of Markazi Anjuman-e-Matami Grohaan (TS) and the concerned officers including Anil Kumar, Addl. CP Traffic, DS Chauhan, Addl. CP L&O, Dr Tarun Joshi, Jt. CP SB Avinash Mohanty, Jt. CP CCS and all DCPs of Hyderabad City and many others attended the meeting. Muhammed Rafique Addl. DCP South Zone and Anand, ACP Mirchowk were the hosts of the program.

Sri Anjani Kumar, Anil Kumar, DS Chauhan, Dr Tarun Joshi addressed the meeting.

Anjani Kumar said that the month of Muharram is the auspicious month of Islamic Calendar and the first month of Islamic Calendar starts from Martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) in Battle of Karbala (Iraq) and the year ends on the sacrifice offered by Prophets Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Ismail AS).

He said that the victory of Imam Hussain (AS) is a victory of entire humanity over the ‘battle of merciless and oppressed’ and gives us a message not to letdown against cruel but fight against them in nonviolent stance.

He quoted an important sermon of the father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi that “If India wants to be a successful country, it must follow the footsteps of Imam Hussain (AS) and if I had an army like 72 soldiers of Imam Hussain (AS), I would have won freedom for India in 24 Hours, in another message Mahatma Gandhi had told “my faith is that the progress of Islam does not depend on the use of sword by its believers, but the result of the supreme sacrifice of Imam Hussain (as) the great sant”.

Ahmed Pasha Quadri (MLA), Riyazul Hassan Afandi (MLC), Maulana Syed Nisar Hussain alias Hyder Aga, Suhail Quadri (Corporartor) and Maulana Syed Waheedduddin Jaffary (Akhbari) were also presented in the meeting and they expressed their views about the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS) and motive of the Azadari (mourning thoughts) and appealed to maintain peaceful atmosphere during the 68 mourning days of Muharram.

Syed Najaf Ali Shoukat, senior journalist and the President Markazi Anjuman-e-Matami Grohaan (TS) appreciated Hyderabad City Police and other officials of different departments, organization and agencies for previous year’s arrangements. He presented a detailed report in-front of audience about complete 68 days Azadari program and identified the sensitive areas where police arrangements are required.

 

S M Ali Jaffari, the President Shia Youth Federation of India has submitted a representation to the Commissioner regarding events and processions that occurs during 68 mourning days. A special request has been made to provide necessary arrangements for the processions that will be taken out on 29th Zilhij 1440H (31st August 2019) and other major events (Majalis-e-Aza) particularly on 8th 9th and 10th Moharam Majalis and Matams that are performed at Bargah Hazrat Abbas, Dewan Dewdi and Bibi Ka Alawa, Dabeerpura respectively for necessary arrangements for visitors and pilgrims.
