Harish Rao asks AP leaders to fight for Special status, VSP

Siddipet, April 17 (PMI): Once again hitting out at AP leaders for making a hue and cry  over his statement, Minister for Finance T Harish Rao said that instead of criticising him,  the neighbouring State leaders should focus on achieving the special status and obstructing the privatisation of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP).

The Minister explained that he had never spoken against the people of Andhra Pradesh but he had reminded their leaders about the importance of special status and stoppage of privatising the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP).

Addressing the BRS party’s Aatmeeya Sammelanam programme at Siddipet here on Monday, Minister Harish Rao said that whatever he had spoken was on behalf of the AP people and however, some leaders from the AP were unnecessarily finding fault with his statement.

“What was wrong with my statement about Andhra Pradesh. I have explained about the greatness of Telangana compared to the neighbouring State on the irrigation front. While the Telangana government is providing the irrigation facility by constructing the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, I have asked the AP leaders to take initiative measures in this regard for the completion of the Polavaram project,”  Harish Rao pointed out.

Stating that the Telangana is witnessing unprecedented progress in the agriculture sector under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the Minister said the crop cultivation area in Telangana during the Yasangi season was about 56 lakh acres.

“Except the Telangana State, no other State in India is providing an irrigation facility and implementing the farmer -friebdly policies,” Harish Rao said. (PMI)
