BRS MLC Kavitha in judicial custody till May 20

Hyderabad, May 14 (PMI): The Rouse Avenue court in New Delhi has extended the judicial custody of BRS MLC Kavitha  till May 20 in connection with the liquor policy case.

On Tuesday, Kavitha was produced before the court virtually. On the occasion, the Enforcement Directorate ( ED) officials requested the court to extend judicial custody of Kavitha for 14 days as part of the investigation.

The ED told the court that the investigation of the case was in progress and a supplementary charge sheet was filed with 8,000 pages. The court said it will inquire into the issue of considering the supplementary charge sheet filed by the ED on May 20.

Kavitha was arrested on March 15 in connection with the Delhi liquor policy money laundering case. Since then, she has been in Tihar Jail under the judicial custody.

The Rouse Avenue court has already rejected the interim and regular bail petitions filed by Kavitha challenging the arrests of ED and CBI in the liquor case.

However, she challenged the trial court verdict in the High Court. A hearing on Kavita’s bail petition will be held on May 24 in the Delhi High Court. (PMI)
