Iranian universities invite foreign students for MBBS

TEHRAN/ HYDERABAD DECCAN: Increasing the number of foreign students in Iran is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology.

“The ministry is trying to double the number of foreign university students in Iran and prepare the grounds for greater international academic cooperation,” “students from many countries have expressed interest in studying in Iran, and we must make the most of this opportunity,” IRNA quoted a statement of an official.

Over 65,000 international students are currently studying in the country at the university level where a large number of programs are taught in the English language.

Among them are nationals from Afghanistan, Iraq, Turkey, Japan, China, Syria, Moldavia, Hungary, Ukraine, Poland, Singapore, the US, Australia, Pakistan, the Netherlands, Korea, Armenia, Italy, Canada, France, Bahrain, the UK, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Russia, Denmark, Senegal, Lebanon, Mexico, India, Germany, Egypt, Taiwan, Romania, Slovakia, Pakistan, Croatia, Nigeria, Oman, Serbia, Slovenia, Vietnam, Georgia, and Sudan.

Iran still lags behind some states in the Middle East when it comes to the number of foreign students at its academic centers and is making efforts to attract more foreigners to its private and public universities and in this continuation the Tehran University of Medical Sciences (http://en.tums.ac.ir/en), Semnan University of Medical Sciences (http://en.semums.ac.ir/), Hamedan University of Medical Sciences (http://en.umsha.ac.ir/) and Isfahan University of Medical Sciences (http://english.mui.ac.ir/) have invited foreign students for MBBS while applicants may also opt for other majors.

The teaching language will be English.

In Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, Foreign Students taken up the General Medicine and Dentistry programs have the option for pursuing course in English for the first two years and during this time they can learn Farsi language and they continue learning in Farsi (Persian) language from the third year.

If there are at least 20 individuals in other majors like nursing, midwifery, health services, physiotherapy, etc Isfahan University of Medical Sciences is ready to organize classes entirely in English for them too. (PMI)
