GHMC decides door-to-door dry garbage collection on Wednesdays & Saturdays

Hyderabad  : The GHMC is taking all measures for active participation of people in the Swachh Survekshan 2018 and Wednesday and Saturday have been decided to collect dry garbage from door-to-door and these days will be observed as dry waste collection days.

            The GHMC Commissioner directed the DMCs and AMOHs to observe every Wednesday andSaturday as dry collection days. He also instructed them to take up campaigns in colonies and slums to verify houses and encourage them to collect dry waste and give to their respective Swachh Auto Tippers on assigned dates. The Municipal Corporations like in Coimbatore, Bengaluru, Mysore and others are successfully implementing dry garbage collection on different days. The Commissioner said the GHMC will take up this type of initiatives and involve various stakeholders such as RWAs, NGOs to create awareness on waste management and importance source of segregation among the waste generation.

The GHMC was planning to give more importance for the concept of wall of kindness involving various NGOs like Rotary, Lions Club, RWAs, students, Retired people who have retired but not tired such people’s involvement to strengthen the sys to get kindness volunteers where the interested persons can register their names with the respective DMCs where they will be providing with ID Cards, Badges etc., to take up the work as kindness volunteers.

The volunteers will visit each and every household of the particular locality and collect the surplus s like clothes, books etc., which will be given to the needy people for better utilization of the s, with which this concept will be sustainable. After starting this concept more and more people are joining hands with GHMC and deriving good results said the Commissioner. At present nearly in 10 centres kindness volunteers are performing their duties the Rotary Club representatives have also approached the GHMC for taking up this concept in 50 areas under their control.

The GHMC is the only Corporation in the Country which has introduced the mosquito app and in a very short period of one month of its introduction so far 40,000 people have downloaded this app when compare to that of Swachh Dooth app the mosquito app has derived better results said the Commissioner.

The aim of the Apps introduction is to educate the citizens and this app must go a very long way to reach all the 20 lakh households for better awareness of mosquito menace with which the menace can be controlled very easily in the near future.  As a token of encouragement the GHMC is also planning to take up lottery sys for both the Apps who have downloaded the App.

The Commissioner also briefed the media activities taken up for double bed room house scheme and as per the targets by theend of August 2017 all the tender process etc.;, have been completed and the project is being taken up on priority for its completion in a stipulated time.

Responding to the plea of the media, the Commissioner said Pralay Sahay  is the programme is taken u by the Defence officials to impart training to the officials of the line departments to react and act while disaster situations, floods situations etc., to create awareness the Defence officials will perform a mock drill on Sepber 22 and 23 where experts on Disaster Management from all over the world are likely to participate and give proper training to the officials to tackle the issues in emergency situation.
