Won’t allow KCR to give 12% quota to Muslims: BJP

Hyderabad, Nov.25 (PMI): BJP national president Amit Shah today alleged that CM KCR burdened the State by going for early elections with the sole intention of benefiting his family members. He also alleged that KCR pushed surplus Telangana State into a debt trap with his faulty policies.
The BJP national president also alleged that KCR did not keep his promise of making a Dalit as the first Chief Minister of the state. He said KCR also did not implement the Aayushman Bharat scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the State. He further alleged that KCR did not fulfill his promise of providing the Godavari water for drinking to every household in the State. He also said the CM had failed even to fill all government jobs within six months of coming into power in the State. He told the people that he would transform the State into a model State if they came to power.
Shah called upon the people to give an opportunity to the BJP like they gave an opportunity to Congress, TDP and TRS parties in the State. He made it clear that the BJP alone had capacity to defeat the ruling TRS party in the State and noted that the Left parties had disappeared from the political scene in the State. Shah addressed public meetings at Parakal and Nirmal Assembly segments as part of his election campaigning in the State.
The BJP president also said the BJP would not allow the Telangana government to implement 12 per cent reservation for minorities. Addressing an election rally at Parkala in Warangal district, he said the BJP will neither provide quota on the basis of religion nor allow its implementation by others. He was referring to the resolution passed by Telangana Legislature and sent to the Centre, seeking its nod for increasing reservation for Muslims in jobs and education from the current four per cent to 12 per cent.
Amit Shah said TRS president K. Chandrashekhar Rao, during his election speeches, has been targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not giving approval to hike the quota for Muslims. Terming the TRS government’s move as “unconstitutional”, BJP chief pointed out that the Supreme Court has fixed a ceiling of 50 per cent on the overall quota. He asked the TRS to specify whose quota it proposes to cut to provide reservation to Minorities. He said his party would stand as a rock to protect the reservation of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes.
Amit Shah, who is on a day-long visit to Telangana to address election rallies, claimed that only his party could provide a government in Telangana which would not be dependent on the MIM and its leader Asaduddin Owaisi. He also said the December 7 election would decide the future of the State. Claiming that the Centre had provided over Rs. 2.30 lakh crore for the development of Telangana during the last four years, he said half of these funds were allocated under 14th Finance Commission.
