TS taking strict steps to prevent cyber crimes: DGP Anjanj kumar IPS

Hyderabad, April 26 (Zahid Hussain- PMI): DGP Anjani Kumar has stated that the Telangana Police was at the forefront of the country by taking strict measures to prevent cyber crimes and cyber safety. He spoke at an online conference on Cyber Security-2023. The Conference was organized by Global Counter Terrorism Council and Digital India from New Delhi.

            Speaking on the topic of National Architecture for Cyber Space management by the State Government, Anjani Kumar said Telangana was the first State to establish a Cyber Safety Bureau to investigate and prevent cyber crimes. He said some 600 leading IT companies of the world, including Microsoft have established in Hyderabad and around 10 lakh IT employees and professionals are working here. There are significant number of cyber literates in Hyderabad and surrounding areas.

However, he said cyber crimes have increased as was happening all over the world. He said 2691 cyber-based cases were registered in the State in 2019, 5024 in 2020, 10,303 in 2021 and 15,217 in 2022. The Cyber Security Bureau has been specially formed to face the challenges in cyber security. Some 500 officers and staff were appointed in this bureau set up at the Integrated Command and Control Center.

The DGP said cyber crime investigation teams have been formed in every district of the State. Cyber crime complaints are registered through toll-free number 1930, 100. In respect of cyber-based financial crimes, Rs 65 crore has been recovered. Large scale awareness programs are being conducted to face the increasing threats of cyber crimes. Police officers have been trained as cyber warriors in 800 police stations in the State to face cyber crime. (PMI)
