Telangana ready for polls today

Hyderabad, Nov.29 (PMI): The stage is set for Telangana Assembly polls which is  to be held across the State on Thursday.

            There are 3.26 crore voters are exercising their votes in all 119 Assembly constituencies in Telangana.

            A total of 2,290 candidates are in the fray and 35,356 polling centers have been set up across the Telangana State. The authorities are making arrangements for webcasting in 27,094 polling stations.  22,000 micro observers and squads have been appointed for the observation of polling centers.

            Polling will be held from 7 AM to 5 PM.  Around 1.85 lakh personnel are participating in the election duties. The mock polling will be held at 5:30 AM, 90 minutes before the start of polling across the Telangana State.

            Meanwhile, the polling arrangements have been completed across the State. Officials have completed the process of distribution of election materials to the polling staff.

            The polling personnel have reached their respective polling centers by the evening with the supplies.

            As far as the arrangements for the law and order is concerned, about 65,000 Telangana State police and 18,000 Home Guards and central forces of 375 companies are participating in election duties. Security has been tightened near problematic polling stations.

            Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao along with his wife Shobha will exercise his right to vote at his native village Chintamadaka in Siddipet district at 7.30 AM on Thursday.

            BRS party working president KT Rama Rao, will cast his vote at GHMC Community Hall, Nandi Nagar, Banjara Hills while MLC Kavitha will exercise her franchise at BS DAV Public School, Road No. 14, Banjara Hills in Hyderabad. (Press media of india)
