Brief Facts and Modus Operendi:-
The accused mentioned above, Vemineni Nagarjuna of Guntur, started an institute in Hyderabad called Arjuna Academy in 2018. This institute was primarily focused on open schooling and distance exams. Nagarjuna admitted students who were interested in writing Open Tenth and Inter Exams, and conducted classes for them.
In 2019, Nagarjuna, along with a woman named Jyothi Reddy from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, devised a plan to provide fake certificates to students in need. They were joined by another individual named Naresh, who acted as a mediator and assisted in finding potential customers.
Subsequently, they hired tele-callers at the institute and targeted students who had failed or dropped out, promising them direct university certificates without having to take any exams. They charged exorbitant amounts for these services.
To produce the fake certificates, they engaged the services of Aravind from Kolkata, West Bengal (who is currently absconding), and Chinmai Bishwas from Delhi (also absconding).
