SOT, CYBERABAD BUSTED 3 INTERSTATE ORGANIZED ONLINE IPL CRICKET BETTING RACKETS

SOT, Cyberabad busted 3 interstate online IPL Cricket betting rackets and seized nearly 1.84 crores in cash and bank accounts. Also seized 36-mobile phones, 3-laptops, 1-Tab, 1-Jio router, arrested 7-bookies and booked 3-criminal cases, one each in RGIA PS, Rajendranagar PS and Narsingi PS.

Cyberabad SWOT police arrested seven bookies belonging to three different gangs who were involved in IPL cricket betting in different areas. 36 cellphones, 3 laptops, one tab and a Jio router were seized from them along with Rs 84 lakhs in cash. In a press conference held at Cyberabad Police Commissionerate on Wednesday, Cyberabad CP Stephen Ravindra revealed the details of the case. Ganapathi Reddy from Bangalore along with Srinivasaraju from East Godavari region of AP is engaged in large-scale cricket betting in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka states.

    Ganapathi Reddy, the main bookie, took money from sub-bookie Podapati Narsingha Rao, a resident of SR Nagar in the city, and gave access to some apps. With this, Narsingh Rao takes money from the funders and gives them the user name and password for their access. In this order, money is being exchanged through Phone-Pay, Google-Pay and Paytm while engaging in massive cricket betting in Telugu states as well as in Karnataka. The Shamshabad SWOT police, who conducted surveillance, caught Narsingh Rao on Tuesday night and arrested him. Rs.60 lakh cash was seized from him and Rs.32 lakh money in his bank account was frozen. In this case, a total of Rs.92 lakhs was seized and two cell phones were seized. The main accused Ganapathi Reddy and Srinivasaraju are absconding, CP said.

    Vegasina Ravi Raju (45) and Bhupati Raju (40) from Bhimavara in AP have been making huge money by betting on cricket for the past few days in Rajendranagar zone . The Rajendranagar SWOT police caught the accused red-handed at Bandlaguda Jagir and arrested them. Cash of Rs.71,50,000 was seized from the accused and the bank balance of Rs.7,37,000 was frozen. 17 cell phones and two laptops were seized. A total of Rs.81 lakhs of property was seized in this case.

    Sub-bookie K. Vinodkumar (32) of Narsingi and sub-bookie Srikanth Reddy of Vanaparthi are betting in the city by getting access through betting apps from the main bookie, Lingam alias Lingaraju of Bhimavara. On receiving the information, Balanagar SWOT police caught Vinod Kumar red-handed and arrested him. Rs. 7,52000 cash, 17 cell phones, one tab, router and laptop were seized from him. In this case, a total property worth Rs. 11 lakhs was seized. Under the supervision of Shamshabad, Rajendranagar and Balanagar zone DCPs Narayana Reddy, Jagadishwar Reddy and T. Sreenivasa Rao, Shamshabad Zone SWOT Inspector Satyanarayana, Rajendranagar Zone SWOT Inspector Venkat Reddy and Balanagar SWOT team investigated these cases on the orders of Cyberabad Police Commissioner Stephen Ravindra.
