Revanth urges DGP to cause probe into attack on Congress workers

Hyderabad, Jan.9 (PMI): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president & MP A. Revanth Reddy today submitted a letter to the DGP here in which he alleged that BRS leaders physically attacked Rathlavath Valya Naik (ST) and other Congress workers at Shainpet village under  Binijapally mandal of Nagarkurnool district.

In his letter, the TPCC chief alleged that BRS leaders Srinivas Goud and others attacked the Congress workers of Bijinapally Mandal of Nagarkurnool Assembly Constituency and attempted to murder RathlavathValya Nalk on January 7 at 11.30 . He also alleged that instead of taking action against the attackers, the police booked false cases against Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy, former minister and others.

      The TPCC president stated that Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy and other Congress leaders visited the proposed site for lifting of water from Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation canal to Markandeya Reservoir near Keemya Thanda of Gangaram village of Bijinapally mandal to see the progress of the work.

“On December 4, 2018, the Chief Minister in an election meeting at Nagarkurnool had announced that he wouyld sanction Markandeya Irrigation Scheme to irrigate about 7,000 to 8,000 acres in Bijinapally mandal villages i.e., Mammalpally, Shainpally, Gangaram Thanadas, Lattupally, Manganur, Mahadevunipet, Chegunta and a few other villages lifting water from the existing Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation scheme.

“Several letters were written by Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy to start the works and complete the project as early as possible. On June 5, 2021, the State Govt. issued GO. Rt.No. 211 giving administrative approval and sanctioned Rs.76.95 crs for lift scheme and on June 18, 2022, the Municipal Administration Minister laid foundation and promised the project within six months. Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy and other congress leaders went to observe the progress of the works. Meanwhile a few BRS leaders gathered and objected to the visit of Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy and others and starting attacking the Congress workers and one among them RathlavathValya Naik (ST) was badly beaten up by Chinna Reddy, Mandal Vice MPP and his brother Krishna Reddy and Tirupathi Reddy, former sarpanch of Mahadevunipet and Srinvias Goud, present MPP attempted on the life by throttling with foot crushing the neck forcefully with legs. But false cases were booked against the Congress leaders with instigation of the local MLA Marri Janardhan Reddy. Entire press, print and electronic media were present at the time of incident and entire incident was videographed by them and telecast and also it came in the newspapers on January 8, 2023 and video clippings in whatsapp were submitted to the SI and other police officials concerned.

Revanth Reddy urged the DGP to order a thorough inquiry on the incident more particularly the incident of attempt on the life of  RathlavathValyaNaik (ST) and also there is a need to book case under suitable sections. The police may be instructed to act impartially and to follow the rule of law and protect the innocent Congress workers and leaders. (PMI)
