Rachakonda Commissioner of Police organizes awareness program to curb social evils & road safety

Hyderabad,   As a social responsibility, the Rachakonda Police organised an awareness program on eradication of Social Evils (Narcotic Drugs, Crime Against Women and Ragging) and on Road Safety with all managements of Educational Institutions on Wednesday with a view to create awareness on the measures to prevent such menace and to safeguard the student community from such social evils.

            Some 100 members of various educational institutions attended the program. The Commissioner of Police while inaugurating the program stated how the narcotic drugs were affecting the society, particularly the student community. He explained about the classification of drugs, its signs and harmful effects of drugs abuse. He also stressed the need to curb such menace by keeping a close watch. The Commissioner also narrated about Laws related to Narcotic drugs.

            The Commissioner of Police emphasized the steps to be taken by the managements at their respective institutions to prevent any supply and use of narcotic drugs near their institutions. He suggested to the managements to keep constant check over the vendors and hawkers around the schools/colleges, to check hostel rooms randomly, to organise even periodically to keep the campaign against the drug abuse alive like observance of International day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking on June 26 every year, to keep watch on students who spend heavy money, to conduct periodical meetings with parents and discuss issues apart from academics with them etc. ”Naya Savera” program started against drug abuse and already conducted in four colleges till now. CP emphasized that it will be conducted in all colleges of Rachakonda.

  1. Ramesh Naidu, IPS, DCP, Traffic speaking on Road Safety stressed upon creating awareness on using of road among the students apart from the academic syllabus. He revealed the statistics as how many persons are dying in road accidents per year and requested the participants to cooperate with the administration in getting the students educated on road safety.

            Snehitha, ACP, explained about the Laws and Acts related to Crime against Women and how the SHE teams are working in Rachakonda Police Commissionerate under the able guidance of the Commissioner of Police. She appealed to the participants to guide the SHE for HER teams which were introduced recently to prevent any harassment to the girl students on the premise of colleges.

            The Commissioner of Police and Jt. Commissioner of Police Rachakonda released new posters on road safety, Ragging, drug abuse and crime against woman (SHE for HER). D.V. Srinivasa Rao, Addl DCP (Admn) proposed a vote of thanks.

            All ACPs, Addl DCPs (crime, traffic, admin), DCPs of Rachakonda were present.
