MLA Ramesh gets HC reprieve

Hyderabad,  In a relief to TRS legislator from Vemulawada Ch Ramesh, the High Court has suspended an order issued by the Centre canceling his dual citizenship.
The High Court suspended the Centre’s order for six weeks and also agreed to hear arguments on the controversy-turned-dual citizenship. It may be mentioned here that the Centre cancelled Ramesh’s dual citizenship in December. The Legislator moved the High Court against the Centre’s order and filed a review petition against the order of the Union Home Ministry on August 31 last. Ramesh found fault with the Centre’s decision on the dual citizenship based on technical reasons.
The citizenship should be considered in a comprehensive manner and not on technical basis, he argued. “Though the Centre asked me to remain in the country for one year from February 25, 2009, I got the citizenship on February 3 in 2009. So, the rule has nothing to do with his citizenship issue”, the legislator argued. Accordingly, the High Court suspended the Centre’s order for six weeks and will hear the case
