Migrant workers stage protest at Tolichowki in state capital

Hyderabad, May 3 (Press Media Of India): Scores of Migrant workers came on roads of state capital in a sudden manner and staged a protest program at Tolichowki area of the city demanding the authorities to allow them to go back to their native places. Over one thousand migrant workers staged the protest program. They told the police that they were suffering a lot due to the ongoing lockdown and urged the police to make arrangements and send them back to their houses.

They west zone DCP AR Srinivas told the workers that they would convey their pleas to the higher ups of the state government and urged them to withdraw their protest program. Convinced at this, the migrant workers withdrew their sit-in protest. Later, speaking to media persons, the DCP said that the migrant workers came on the roads following the spreading of the false reports that the authorities were arranging special and trains for the migrant workers to drop them at their native places.

He said that they told the workers that they would send them back to their houses if the state and central governments make arrangements for their transportation. He also said that they had made arrangements for the service of the food to the workers. (PMI)
