KCR Selected for Prestigious National Agri Award

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has been selected for prestigious National Agriculture Award for his innovative welfare schemes for the farmers for 2017. The Indian Council of Food and Agriculture has selected KCR for the coveted “Policy Leadership Award-2017” in recognition to his policies and schemes for the cause of the farmers.

According to the information, a committee led by noted Agriculture Scientist Swaminathan proposed KCR’s name for the award to be presented at Taj Palace in New Delhion September 5 at 7.30 pm. The Chief Minister is to receive the award for his relentless efforts and schemes to benefit the farmers. The KCR Government was coming up with revolutionary policies and schemes in the agriculture sector, the council said. The Agriculture Council has been offering awards for agriculture and rural development since 2008.

Besides supplying uninterrupted power supply for nine hours for crops, the TRS government waived off Rs 17,000 crore crop loans, which was a major reprieve for the farmers in distress and debts. The government also announced crop investment of Rs 4000 per acre to all the farmers for single crop. Now, the Chief Minister has instructed the officials to take up a comprehensive land survey across the State and record the details online for transparency to overcome related issues.

It may be mentioned here that the KCR government has been making efforts to bring under irrigation one crore acres by completing the projects over five years. The TRS Government also announced to pay Rs 8,000 per acre for two crops from next Kharif towards crop investment and the farmers need not repay the amount. Efforts were also being made by the State government to complete Kaleshwaram project in North Telangana and Palamur-Ranga Reddy in South Telangana to irrigate most of the crops that were deprived of so far.
