KCR, Laxman, Dattatraya grieve demise of Fernandez

Hyderabad, Jan.29 (PMI): Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has expressed grief on the demise of socialist leader and former Defense Minister George Fernandez.

In his condolence message today, the Chief Minister recalled the contribution of late Fernandez as a trade union leader and Union minister. The CM conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the near and dear of the departed soul.

  Laxman recalled heroic services of Fernandez

            State BJP president Dr K Laxman to expressed his deep concern over the demise of prominent socialist leader, friend of toiling masses and former Defence Minister George Fernandez.

            In a pressnote here today, Dr Laxman recalled that George Fernandez went to jail during Emergency period for protection of democracy in the country and strove to bring about unity of political leaders and youth for protection of democracy. He had also played a pivotal role in labour unions, Laxman said, adding that the departed leader lived like a common man and worked as Defence Minister under Atal Behari Vajpayee government at the Centre.

            The State BJP leader conveyed his deep sympathies to the family members of Gorge Fernandez and prayed God to give solace to the sacred soul of Fernandez.   

Man of high ideals

            Hearing the news of the demise of former Defence Minister Gorge Fernandez, senior BJP leader and former Union minister Bandaru Dattatraya expressed his grief over the demise of the veteran socialist leader.

            In a pressnote here today, Dattatraya recalled that George Fernandez was prominent Socialist leader and toiled for welfare of the labour. He daringly opposed authoritarian rule of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and went to jail for opposing the infamous Emergency. Man of high ideals, George Fernandez worked as Union minister for Defence, Railways and Industries during the Janata Party government headed AB Vajpayee. His demise was an irreparable loss to the people of the country.

            Dattatraya conveyed his deep sympathy and condolences to the kin of the late leader. (PMI)
