International narcotics peddling racket busted

Hyderabad, Dec.12 (PMI): On a tip-off, SOT sleuths of Malkajgiri Zone along with Nacharam police busted an international narcotics peddling racket and apprehended two accused, who were involved in clandestine supply of pseudoephedrine (a narcotic control substance) being parcelled through an international courier agency from Hyderabad to Australia and New Zealand.
The accused were identified as Mohammed Kasim of Triplicane, Chennai, Rasuldeen of Chepauk, Triplicane, Chennai and Raheem of Chennai. The police also seized Pseudoephedrine (a narcotic control substance) approximately 8.5 kg (23 boxes covers of Ramraj cotton), cash of Rs 4,02,500, five passports, three Aadhar Cards, two Voter ID Cards, one Intex Dongle, nine courier receipts, two duplicate Pan Cards, four duplicate Aadhar Cards, one Lenovo Laptop & Charger, one packing machine, one weighing machine, one vaccum sealing machine, 10 Mobile Phones, 20 empty boxes – all property worth about Rs 9 crore.
Drug smuggling gangs operating in Tamil Nadu have been using the Pune and Hyderabad air cargo route to smuggle pseudoephedrine (a narcotic control substance) and other banned substances to Australia, New Zealand. They used to book the drug parcels at international courier services located at Pune, Hyderabad by concealing the pseudoephedrine in cloth boxes, bangle boxes, baby wear gift packs and so on by providing the morphed address proofs i.e., Aadhar, Pan cards of local people.
On a tip-off on December 11, 2022 evening, the SOT, Malkajgiri Zone team along with Nacharam police raided a lodge, under the limits of Nacharam police station and seized 8.5 kg of pseudoephedrine (a narcotic control substance), net cash of Rs 4,02,500, and other incriminating material from their possession.
During investigation,it was established that the duo received pseudoephedrine from Raheem after receiving the same they put about 200 gram each in plastic covers, hid in the inner layers of the cloth boxes along with clothes and transporting to Australia and New Zealand through courier parcel agencies viz., GVR International Courier Service, Hyderabad and Indofine Express Service, Pune by concealing the contraband in different items. They confessed that so far they have shipped 15 consignments about 70 kg of pseudoephedrine to Australia and New Zealand during 2022. Likewise, four days back, they received pseudoephedrine drug from Raheem.
They said they travelled to Hyderabad in bus and reached Hyderabad on December 11, 2022 morning and took a lodge with intent to pack and transport the drug to the address provided by Raheem. Meanwhile they were caught by police.
The arrests were made under the direct supervision of Sri Mahesh M Bhagwat, IPS., Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, Sri G. Sudheer Babu, IPS., Addl. Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, Ms. Rakshita. K. Murthy, IPS., DCP, Malkajgiri Zone and under the guidance of Sri K. Muralidhar, DCP, SOT, Rachakonda, P. Naresh Reddy, ACP, Malkajgiri Division, Sri. T. Kiran Kumar, Inspector of Police, Nacharam PS, by Sri A. Ramulu, Inspector of Police, SOT, Malkajgiri Zone, Sub-Inspectors Sri P. Vasudev, G. Raghu Ramudu, M. Sarangapani and Police Personnel of SOT, Malkajgiri Zone and Nacharam PS of Rachakonda. (PMI)
