Hyderabad, ; ( Zahid Hussain PMI): The sleuths of Special Operations Team (SOT), Medchal Zone, busted an international fake call centre under Petbasheerbad police limits and arrested 13 accused for cheating people based in Australia by posing as tech support team staff of Amazon Prime. They called potential targets based in Australia and offered their technical support by telling the victims that their account had either been hacked or had a security threat. The accused used illegal techniques and Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) calls. The victims were made to pay the specified amount through gift cards which were redeemed at the AUS-based bank accounts by the overseas contacts of the accused. A total of 13 persons were present at the call centre, who were spot and engaged in calls with foreign nationals by impersonating themselves as tech support of Amazon prime. They were arrested and recovered 13 Desktop monitors; 14 CPUs, 13 Head Sets; one Hard Disk, one Pen Drive; one Memory Card; eight new SIM Cards; 18 mobile phones; two diesel make wrist watches; one Hill finger wrist watch; one ortuner car TN-11/J-3232; net cash of ₹ 5,940, internet routers, telecommunication software and incriminating data in the computers and mobile phones among other materials.
