Hyderabad, Dec.5 (PMI): Former minister and BRS party MLA Harish Rao has been granted relief by the Telangana High Court in a criminal case filed against him by Punjagutta police. The High Court directed the Police that he should not be arrested in connection with the case but made it clear that the police may take up further investigation in the case. Harish Rao has been asked to cooperate in this regard by the HC. The court issued notices to Chakradhar Goud, who had lodged a complaint against Harish Rao, and adjourned the hearing of the case.
Harish Rao had filed the petition in the High Court on Wednesday seeking quashing of the case registered on the basis of a complaint filed by real estate dealer Chakradhar Goud with political vendetta. He said the police had registered the case against him, Radhakishan Rao and others without conducting a preliminary inquiry into the contents of the complaint lodged by Chakradhar Goud for alleged phone tapping. He said there was nothing against him in the complaint and added that it was filed with fabrication of facts. “If the police arrest me on the basis of this complaint, it will damage my political career as well as my reputation. Phone tapping is a long-standing incident and why hasn’t he lodged a complaint with the police so far,” he asked.
Four cases filed against Harish so far
Four cases were registered against Harish Rao so far after the Congress came to power in Telangana. On August 22, Harish Rao held a cleanliness drive at Yadagirigutta temple, alleging that Revanth Reddy had promised to waive off loans to farmers by August 15. A case has been registered against him at the local police station in connection with his comments. The second case was registered at the cyber crime police station of the city on October 4 this year. A man posted on social media about BJP MP Raghunandan Rao garlanding State minister Konda Surekha.
According to BRS leaders, the case was registered on the pretext that Harish’s photo had appeared on the social media of the accused. The third case was registered in Begumbazar police station on October 25 this year for referring to CM Revanth Reddy as ‘Revanth Reddy of evasions ‘ for evading promises. The fourth case was registered in Karimnagar on November 25 for criticising Revanth Reddy at an event. (PMI)
