GHMC employee dies in an accident

Hyderabad, Aug. 29 : A GHMC contract sanitation worker died after a lorry hit his motorbike at Katedan on Wednesday.

According to the Mailardevpally police, O Ramesh, 40, was on his way from Durga Nagar to Katedan for work, when a lorry rammed his bike, leaving him dead on the spot. The driver of the lorry was arrested and the body was shifted to the Osmania General Hospital for autopsy.

Mayor Dr Bonthu Rammohan announced Rs 2 lakh ex gratia and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved members of his family. The deceased was working at Rajendranagar Circle. After hearing the tragic news, GHMC Commissioner Dana Kishore visited the house of the deceased and consoled his family members. Insurance amount of Rs 6 lakh has been handed over to the family members by the Commissioner.

As a mark of respect, a two-minute silence has been observed in a meeting held today by the Commissioner and senior officials of the Corporation.
