DECCAN PARK AT QUTUB SHAHI TOMBS LAUNCHED Efforts on for UNESCO Heritage Structure Status to Hyderabad: KTR

 

Hyderabad, July.10 (PMI): Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao today launched Deccan Parkat Qutub Shahi Tombs, which was pending for 11 years. The sprawling 31-acre park was left closed in 2006 and with court clearance the park is now left opened for people as usual. Thanks to the TRS Government for its initiative and coordination of GHMC and other officials.
Speaking on the occasion, KTR said Hyderabad will soon get Heritage structure status from UNESCO as the government has already sent proposal in this regard. The plea of the State government is under active consideration by UNESCO in the wake of the Centre according its nod for it, the minister said. He also said he was happy to restart the park that was closed for several years for various reasons. Now the people are allowed to walk in the lush green precincts of the Deccan Park and enjoy natural beauty and pleasing environment, he said, adding that it will be developed as part of Harithaharam – the green drive.
            The city is blessed with many historic monuments like the High Court building, Golconda Fort and the Mecca Masjid, to name a few, KTR said and appreciated the GHMC and other officials for beautifying the park and taking up other works in the Deccan Park. He said the historic city of Hyderabad will be transformed into a global destination with a focus on safety and security. Efforts in this regard are being made besides making it a tourist and people friendly city, he noted. All the people residing in the twin cities and adjoining districts should voluntarily participate in “Swachch Hyderabad” drive and keep our city clean to live in an environment free from pollution, he said.
            On the request made by Jubilee Hills MLA M Gopinath to permit walkers into the park, KTR responded positively and declared that the park will be open for morning and evening walkers.
Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi said green cover was less and there was a need to increase it to at least 12 percent. Thanking KTR for launching the Deccan Park, the MP appealed to the Minister to renovate and take up beautification works at the Katora Houz near Golconda Fort. He also requested the Minister to renovate the defunct swimming pool at Deccan Park.
            Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali said under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Telangana was making a mark at the national level in different fields. Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya said the Central government had allocated Rs 500 crore for tourist circuits at Akkana caves, Mahaboobnagar and Adilabad. He said all support would be extended to the State government in obtaining UNESCO heritage city award to Hyderabad.
            The Deccan Park has musical fountain, boating pond, stage event, canteen building and other facilities besides enticing green corridors to meander and relieve. Deputy Chief Minister Mahamood Ali, Union Labour and Employment Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, Home Minister N Narsimha Reddy, Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin, GHMC Commissioner Dr B. Janardhan Reddy and officials were present.
