Mansoorabad, March 1: Hayatnagar police arrested two accused who were robbing women’s gold chains by threatening them with a knife. From the accused Rs. Banawat Balajinayak (25) of Venigandla village, Peddakakani mandal, Guntur district, resides in Hayatnagar, Ellareddy Colony. He is working as an RTC bus driver. Chitturi Rajkiran (32) of East Godavari District, Amalapuram, Peruru, is a resident of Ferozguda, Bagh Colony in the city and works as a technician in a private company. In 2019, Balajinayak and Rajkiran became friends while working as two cab drivers.

The money received was not enough for those who were addicted to gambling and addictions. Due to this, he incurred huge debts. They looked for ways to make easy money to pay off their debts. A plan was made to target single women and rob them of gold jewellery. On the 27th of last month, Balajinayak, who hired a bike, Rajkiran threatened a woman running a grocery shop in Hayatnagar PS area, Lecturers Colony at 3 pm and stole a gold chain. Chain snatching was committed at Bommalagudi in a similar manner. On Tuesday afternoon, a woman named Shailaja, who was going to Demart in LB Nagar PS area, came on a bike and threatened her with a knife and tried to abduct a gold chain. When she resisted, they grabbed the cell phone from her hand and left.

Hayatnagar and LBnagar police have registered a case based on the complaint of the victims. On the basis of the CCTV cameras, the police have taken up the investigation. On Wednesday morning, Balaji Naik and Rajkiran, who were roaming suspiciously in Ellareddy Colony near Hayatnagar and Bommarillu, were detained and questioned, and the matter of theft came to light. Both the accused were arrested by the police and taken to remand. LBnagar ACP Sridhar Reddy, Vanasthalipuram ACP Purushottam Reddy, LBnagar CI Anji Reddy, Hayatnagar CI Venkateshwarlu and DI Niranjan participated in this meeting.
