CP warns rumor mongers of stern action

Hyderabad, Jan. 30 (PMI): Stating that some miscreants, by using social media like Face book, twitter and whatsapp and so on either as administrators or members of a group, were spreading rumors by sending messages of alleged child-lifting, murders and assaults in the twin cities, City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar, IPS, today cautioned the public in general by means of loud speakers, newspapers and social media not to pass such false information/messages thereby causing panic and disturbance to the public order and creating threat to the lives of innocent persons.

He also said recently some cases have been registered against certain persons, who are allegedly responsible for attacking and causing death of innocent persons on the ground that they have come from other States and were kidnapping children for illegal activities. In fact, there are no such persons, but some mischievous people were disseminating false information through social media in the form of messages, text, etc. He also warned that any citizen sending such messages through social media will be prosecuted. The prohibitory order will be in force for 15 days from January 29 up to 0600hrs on February 12.  (PMI)
