Chemotherapy for cancer patients in districts soon: Minister Harish Rao

State Finance and Health Minister Harish Rao said that cancer patients will soon be given the facility to undergo chemotherapy in the districts. Minister Harish Rao spoke to the media while inaugurating a new oncology block at MNJ Cancer Institute along with Union Minister Kishan Reddy.

Hyderabad; April ’16 2023 (PMI) State Finance and Health Minister Harish Rao has said that cancer patients will soon be given the facility to undergo chemotherapy in the districts. Minister Harish Rao spoke to the media while inaugurating a new oncology block at MNJ Cancer Institute along with Union Minister Kishan Reddy. He said that he is happy to start a new block in the hospital. He thanked Aurobindo Pharma for constructing such a good building and providing it to the government

Minister Harish Rao said that with the new building, the number of beds in the hospital has increased to 750, and all the facilities have been provided here with a budget of Rs.60 crore. He said that MNJ is the second largest hospital for cancer treatment in the government sector in the country. He said that women wing and pediatric wing will come up in the new block. He said that a library and a teacher have been set up in the pediatric wing so that the education of children who come for treatment is not affected. Similarly, the minister said that a special ward has been set up for bone marrow transplantation and they will be given free medicines for life under Arogya Shri.

The minister stated that the previous governments failed to increase the super specialty services keeping in view the growing population. It was revealed that CM KCR has strengthened the medical facilities in Telangana and strengthened hospitals like Gandhi, Osmania, NIMS and MNJ. He said that with the expansion of four TIMs hospitals, Warangal Health City and NIMS, 10 thousand beds of super specialty beds are being made available. They will be available in another year. The minister said that the government is also giving great importance to medical education and 9 more medical colleges will be started this year.

Minister said that this is a good answer for those who want to know what will happen if Telangana comes. He said that if there were 20 medical colleges in 2014, it will reach 46 by 2022 and it will be 55 by this year. He said that if 20 medical colleges were established in 65 years, 35 colleges were established in 9 years. It is mentioned that if medical seats were 2950, ​​now it will increase to 7990. He said that Rs.800 crores have been spent by Arogya Shree in relation to cancer since Telangana came. He said that last year Rs.137 crores were spent only on cancer patients and soon chemotherapy and radio therapy will also be started in the districts.

The minister commented that we are going to detect cancer through diagnostic centers and our health is in our own hands. He said to take care in diet and exercise regularly. Minister Harish Rao specially congratulated doctors Addanki Sarath and film producer Sunitha for their efforts in maintaining hospital sanitation and security. MLA Zafar Hussain, MLC Prabhakar, Mayor Gadwala Vijayalakshmi, TSMSIDC Chairman Errolla Srinivas, Aurobindo MD Nithyananda Reddy, Aurobindo Director Raghunathan, Health Secretary Rizvi, MNJ Hospital Director Dr Jayalatha and others participated in the programme.(PMI)
