BJP demands President’s rule in WB; Mamata blames oppositions for riots in Basirhat

The BJP has demanded immediate imposition of President’s rule in West Bengal as what it called law and order situation in the state had completely broken down.Talking to newspersons in Kolkata, the state BJP President Dilip Ghosh said that they had met Governor K N Tripathy today and requested him to recommend to the centre immediate imposition of President’s rule there.He said, they had also demanded immediate arrests of all those involved in the riots at Baduria in Basirhat and restoration of peace in Baduria as well as in Darjeeling Hills where a movement for a separate state of Gorkhaland is on.Mr. Ghosh said that they had requested the Governor that all affected families in Baduria be compensated. It may be recalled the state police had earlier stopped delegations of BJP, Congress and Left from visiting Basirhat.Meanwhile West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee blamed the opposition for flaring up communal riots in Basirhat by spreading canards and false information through the social media. She appealed to all to ignore rumours and maintain communal harmony in the state.
