Hyderabad, Jan.31 (PMI):  BJP State president Dr K. Laxman today demanded that the State government come to the rescue of the victims of Exhibition Grounds fire accident victims. He also demanded that the State government order a judicial inquiry into the issue.

Talking to the media after inspecting the Exhibition Grounds where fire erupted gutting some 300 stalls, Laxman said it was unfortunate that the management of the Exhibition Society took unilateral decisions over the safety and security of the people at the Numaish without consulting local public representatives on the issue. He said such fire accidents at the exhibition grounds would not only cause huge financial loss, but also human loss as it is located in the middle of the city.

The BJP leader demanded that the State government relocate the Exhibition Ground at a far better place with a vast ground and create a permanent facility for the same.  Noting that the victims were from States like Gujarat, Kolkata and Kashmir, he wanted to know as to who would take the responsibility for such a huge loss sustained by the traders. The society members told the BJP delegation that they adhered to all government rules and paid requisite fee to fire and other departments of the State for taking security measures The BJP leaders also demanded that the society members pay compensation to the victims.

The State BJP chief said it was shocking that the society allowed the shops without insuring them. He also said that they were astonished to note that the society allowed a shop over a temple located on the grounds without considering the sentiments of the Hindus. He warned the society members that they would launch a State-wide agitation if the victims were not adequately compensated.

BJP floor leader in the Assembly Raja Singh has alleged that the identity of three people, who were being treated at different hospitals of the city was not yet known to them. He also alleged that the society members did not inform the family members of the victims of the fire accident.
