Hyderabad, Nov.1 (PMI): Balala Hakkula Sangham has strongly opposed the Central Government’s move to amend the minimum marriage age and reducing it to 18 years for boys, and demanded not to amend the Act. The Sangham also demanded that the minimum marriage age of the girls should be increased from 18 yrs to 21 years.
In a press note here today, Achyuta Rao, honorary President, said the Central government is thinking to amend the minimum marriage age by reducing it to 18 yrs for boys, and if this is legalized, the rate of the child marriages will increase and crime against the girls on the name of love will go up, the birth rate of mentally and physically handicapped will increase and government would be forced to spend more and more money on the health of public as early marriages will effect adversely on the health of girls and infants, and individual family economy will also ruin the families and as per Indian education system, no one can complete at least graduation at the age of 18 years, even to fetch a small job.
Totally this move will adversely effect on the Indian families and heath, education, and economy of the nation will spoil and per capita income will come down drastically; and men and women of the future India will live in miserable conditions, he added
