New Delhi, Aug.5 (PMI): Extending its full support to the Centre’s decision to rescind  Article 370 that strips Jammu & Kashmir of the special status, the YSR Congress Party said the decision would solve the Kashmir problem permanently.

Speaking on the issue in Rajya Sabha on Monday, YSRCP MP V Vijayasai Reddy congratulated Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making the landmark move. He attributed the festering wound of Kashmir conflict to the ‘inept’ successive Congress governments that ruled the country for long. “Had Pandit Nehru not recalled the Indian Army when it penetrated into 25 km deep inside Pakistan in 1947 to stop intruders from across the border, we wouldn’t be discussing this issue today,” he reasoned.

YSRCP MP also said the issue would have been dealt with in a fitting manner had first Prime Minister Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru entrusted the task with the country’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. “Kashmir remains an issue till today only because of the blunders committed by the Congress party. Today, Amit Shah has brought a closure to the task that was left unfinished by Sardar Patel,” he added.

After days of uncertainty and unprecedented build-up of security personnel in Jammu and Kashmir, the Centre has decided to bite the Kashmir bullet, as a solution to bring closure to the long drawn issue of Kashmir dispute.
