TSRTC makes profits, crew told to avoid accidents

Hyderabad,  Transport Minister P Mahendra Reddy today said the TSRTC was making profits gradually due to reforms taken by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in the administration and financial matters.

At a review meeting, the minister discussed on road safety and steps to avoid accidents in districts with Principal Secretary Sunil Sharma, Deputy Transport Officers, Joint Transport Officers and others. He directed the officials to coordinate and avoid accidents as the road safety was the key. He said the TSRTC has started making profits.

Mahender Reddy appreciated that the percentage of accidents in TSRTC was much less compared to other States. He stressed the need for having “Zero” accident rate as the Corporation was making profits with effective coordination by all the officials. He said he would hold meeting on road safety in every three months.

The minister cautioned the drivers to avoid accidents at villages and towns. He said a driver training institute will be opened in Sircilla district. As per the Court order, the officials should depute two drivers into services to cover long distances, he added.
