Warangal: A corporator of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) was brutally hacked to death in his own house here on Thursday.
The deceased Anishetty Murali was elected from the 44th Division of Greater Warangal. On Thursday, some attackers entered his house and hacked him using hunting sickles, axes and knives. Police suspect political rivalry and old enmity to behind the attack. Prior to shifting to TRS, Murali worked as city president of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Later, the attackers surrendered at the local police station.
Murali was the prime suspect in the murder of Congress corporator Janardhan. Police suspect that Janardhan’s followers were involved in the brutal attack on Thursday. They stated that as the 25th anniversary of Janardhan’s death was approaching, his followers might have resorted to the murder to avenge his death. Corporator Murali, on his part, was said to be very cautious about his security and his movements in the town. But on Thursday, due to incessant rain, he remained at home. Sensing it as a opportune moment, Janardhan’s followers attacked and killed him.
