TPCC’s Plea to EC on Expelled MLAs Issue

Hyderabad,  TPCC Election commission Coordination Committee convener Marri Shashidhar Reddy has alleged that the TRS government expelled Congress MLAs—Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and SA Sampath Kumar from their Assembly membership, unethically by acting  against the constitution. The government dismissed the two MLAs without any reason, he said and informed the Election Commission that the Assembly secretary was acting  as Rajya Sabha elections returning officer.

Marri alleged that the  Assembly secretary behaved as a  sycophant of the state government in removing the membership of two MLAs and also removed the names of the two expelled MLAs  from the Rajya Sabha elections voter list.

Speaking to the media after submitting memorandum to the Election Commission  on Wednesday, Marri urged the Election Commission to include two expelled MLAs names in the voter list. The Congress also urged the Election Commission to remove the Assembly secretary from the responsibilities of returning officer.

A delegation of TPCC Election commission Coordination Committee headed by  Shashidhar Reddy, along with the MP Nandi Yellaiah, former PCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah, expelled MLAs K Venkat Reddy and Sampath Kumar, and its Members G.Niranjan and A.Shyam Mohan met the Chief Election Commissioner of India in New Delhi  at 3.30 PM on Wednesday  and submitted a representation drawing the attention of EC to some other serious issues involved in the context of the polling in Rajya Sabha election on 23rd March.

It may be mentioned here that the High Court in Hyderabad had directed the Election Commission not to issue the notification for the Nalgonda and Alampur assembly constituencies by-election  on the basis of the decision of the Telangana Speaker on 13th March to expel MLAs Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Sampath Kumar and Gazette notification issued on the same day. The matter is posted for 22nd March and the court had directed that all the video footage covering the Governor’s address be submitted to the court.
