Talasani directs officials to clear Nalas and clogged roads on war-footing

Hyderabad: Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav today directed the officials concerned to plunge into action to prevent inconvenience to people caused due to heavy rainfall occurring in the twin cities for two days.

The minister held a review meeting on rain preparedness and developmental works at his Chambers in Secretariat here on Tuesday. Since the roads are getting marooned with waters at many places, the officials should take timely steps to clear them and clear silt from open nalas, storm water lanes and removing the tree branches after removal. Srinivas Yadav also asked them to come up with an action plan to overcome problems arising out after the rainfall in future.

The minister lamented that despite spending huge funds the development works were not being completed. “This is due to lack of continuous monitoring of the works by the officials, who have to make field level visits. Our aim is to complete development works early so that the people would recognize the efforts of the government”, he said, adding that cooperation of NGOs must be taken for parks maintenance in the constituency.

Referring to the Harithaharam program, the minister instructed that plantation of the saplings has to be taken up at schools, colleges, parks, open places, offices and protection. The officials can take help of voluntary organizations for procuring tree guards for the saplings planted and create awareness among people. He said some donors came forward to provide 2,000 tree guards worth Rs 4 lakh for the Harithaharam scheme. He also directed the GHMC officials to complete laying of roads in his Sanathnagar constituency expeditiously. Adequate funds will be spent for the roads and other developmental works, including from Gurudwara to Fateh Nagar bridge and Umesh Chandra statue to police station.
