State to impose pay cut for all due to Coronavirus

Hyderabad, March 31 (PMI):Due to the impact on the State revenues on account of Coronavirus, the State

government has decided to tread cautiously and impose cuts in salaries and pensions paid to all government employees, including retired employees (pensioners) for the month of March.

A high-level meeting held at Pragathi Bhavan yesterday, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao reviewed the financial position of the State and decided to impose pay cut from a minimum of 10% to 75%. KCR took the decision after reviewing the State’s financial position and revenue receipts.

KCR said his salary would be cut by 75% and it would be same for ministers, legislators and local

body representatives. Bureaucrats including IAS, IPS, IFS and other officers of the Central services will also have to let go off 60% of their salaries.

Similarly, there would be a 50% salary cut for the employees, including teachers, gazetted and non-

gazetted officers.

The salaries of other employees like peons, sweepers, the class IV employees will be slashed by 10 per cent. There will be a cut in the pensions of all categories of retired employees by 50% and 10% for retired class IV employees.

 A statement from Chief Minister’s Office said, ‘the coronavirus was adversely impacting the economic situation of the State. In this background, the State government will act cautiously and foresight.’ (PMI)
