Rachakonda SHE teams nab 34 eve-teasers

Hyderabad, : The Rachakonda SHE teams booked 31 cases against eve-teasers and arrested 34 accused including three minors in the last three weeks.

All the miscreants, accompanied by their family members, appeared before the counseling session conducted by Rachakonda SHE teams, at Commissioner’s Camp office at Nagole in LB Nagar. Children were also counseled by professional psychologist to change their behavior.

            In one incident, a 32-year-old working woman residing in Uppal area was allegedly harassed by a tea vendor Tulla Sampath of Hema Nagar. The accused trailed the woman regularly and demanded her to fulfill his desire. When she complained, the Uppal SHE teams booked a case and councelled him to change his behavior. But he did not mend his attitude and continued to harass her. On September 18 evening the accused slapped the complainant and outraged her modesty in public place by abusing her in filthy language near Venkateshwara Swamy Temple, Swaroopnagar, Uppal. On receipt of a complaint, the Uppal police registered an FIR under Nirbhaya Act and arrested the accused and sent him judicial remand.

            In another case, a 30-year-old housewife was residing in a rented house in Neredmet area belonging to one Nambola Adinarayana, 36, of Gokulnagar in Neredmet. Every month, the victim was paying rent of Rs 2,900 and electricity charges. On September 17, the house-owner reportedly took her phone number and talked to her in filthy language and insulted her modesty. She said she was living alone at the rented house as her husband abandoned her and her children.

Taking undue advantage, the house-owner misbehaved with her by touching her body while she was going out and returning to the house regularly. On September 22 night, the accused barged into her room and tried to molest her. When the victim lodged a complaint, the Neredmet police arrested the accused and remanded him to judicial custody.

            In a case of stalking, an LLB student Shravan Kumar, 22, of Nagole area, was trailing the complainant and captured her image and outraged her modesty. When the girl lodged a complaint, the LB Nagar police registered a case and arrested the accused.

            In another case of stalking, a 21-year-old woman studying MBA at Ibrahimpatnam came into contact with accused E. Ram of  Kuntlur village through a missed call phone no 8341114986. The accused told her that he belongs to Mudiraj community and residing at Kuntloor village. When he proposed to her, the complainant started moving with him closely. However, later she came to know that the accused was having contacts with another woman and avoided him.

Later, her parents fixed her marriage with another person. But the accused continued to harass her by making phone calls to her and her fiancée and threatened he would stop their marriage. The accused’s brother Mahesh also threatened the woman that he would lodge an SC, ST case against her family. The brothers also threatened to upload her morphed photos in social media and whatsapp and make phone calls and send messages. On her complaint, the Ibrahimpatnam police registered a case and arrested the accused.

Apart from these cases, 26 eve-teasers were caught in SHE teams’ decoy operations and through Whatsapp complaints from different areas of Rachakonda while they were teasing girls at different junctions/bus stops/work places and colleges in the Rachakonda Police Commissionerate area. All were booked under petty cases and counseled by professional counselors of Bhumika Collective in front of their family members. Minors were counseled by Dr Vasavi  Samyuktha Sunki,   Chief Consultant Psychologist.
