Hyderabad, Nov.10 (PMI): WE condemn issuance of above referred circular by the Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda that the issuing the said Memo is nothing but abusing the powers conferred on police personnel. The said circular hurts the feelings and sentiments of the people at large and believers of Sri Lord Ayyappa.
On reading of the contents of the Memo it takes us to medieval period specifically it is objectionable in ordering on the growing hairs and bear by the police. He has no locus standi to impose such restrictions by growing of hairs on particular religion and believers of God. Particularly it is violation of constitution and Fundamental Rights of equality before the Law.
The said Circular indicates that suppressing the religious sentiments of the people at large. In the same time the department allowing the minority community police personnel to grow bear regularly and allowing them to offer the prayers during the Ramzan Month and allowing them to offer prayers as per their schedule and you are relaxing working hours for them. It is mere showing the disparity among the members of police personnel working under you.
Therefore we strongly raise the objection for issuing the above referred circular and request you to withdraw the same forthwith and further sanction the leave if any police personnel applies for leave who intends to take Deekaha of Swamy Ayyappa and allow them to their duties as per personal whims and wishes as usual earlier practice in this regard.
