PM striving to make India a super economic power: Naqvi

Hyderabad,  Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking several measures to transform India as a super economic power in the world, Union Minister for Minorities Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has said.

He launched “Mudra Yojana” Promotion Camp along with Finance Minister E Rajender,  Panchayat Raj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya and officials at Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy stadium here.

Speaking on the occasion, the Union minister said the aim of the scheme was to empower the poor and middle class people to do business of their choice by giving them loans. The Prime Minister’s efforts are to ensure that the country becomes a super economic power and fulfill the promise of giving fruits of development to the poor and deprived classes. So far other nations have already recognized India as an economic power, he said.

Mudra Loan scheme is one which so far disbursed Rs 9.13 crore including since 2015 including 76 per cent women who have 50 per cent of SC, ST, OBC and Minorities. Micro and Small loans will be offered to the eligible poor under Mudra Yojana scheme. He said that the bankers speeded up the process of giving loans to the poor to do their businesses and grow financially. Naqvi distributed Rs 500 crore loans to 14,000 Self Help Groups and also Mudra loans sanctioned by various banks to the people on the occasion attended by 35 bankers and officials.

Etela Rajender said Telangana was first in opening up Jan Dhan bank accounts and cashless transactions. “We are supporting every Central scheme for the benefit of the poor”, he said, admitting that they are lagging behind in giving loans. So far, we gave loans to 1100 persons against 15000 persons under the scheme. Women groups in the state are in forefront at national level as part of reviving rural economy he said. The State government so far offered Rs 3700 cr loans to the people under various schemes.  He urged Naqvi to ensure that the Centre keeps its promise by releasing Rs 200 cr towards loans for Muslim Minorities welfare.

Krishna Rao said that Rs 1300 cr loans distributed to 5 lakh people in 2016-17 and Rs 35 cr to 50 lakh women under Stree Nidhi scheme. Dattatreya also spoke.
