PM Modi reviews relief operations in flood-affected areas of Gujarat; announces an immediate assistance of Rs 500 cr

Prime Minister Narendra Modi did an aerial survey and took stock of the situation in flood-affected areas of Gujarat. The Prime Minister reviewed the relief operations yesterday at a high level meeting which was attended by state’s Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and other senior ministers and officials.
 
During the meeting, the Prime Minister was given an overview of the extent of damage caused by floods and the relief operations being undertaken. Mr. Modi instructed all the agencies involved in relief operations to put in their best possible effort.
The Prime Minister also said, everything possible will be done to help the farmers, who have suffered immensely due to the floods. He said, insurance companies including those dealing with crop insurance may be advised to organise assessment of damage to assets and crops quickly and take steps for early settlement of claims.
Addressing the media at Ahmedabad Airport after undertaking aerial survey, Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured people of the State that Centre stands shoulder to shoulder with them at this difficult time. Mr. Modi said, the centre will assist the state with short and long term measures.
 
An immediate additional assistance of 500 crore rupees under the State Disaster Relief Fund was also announced by Mr. Modi. The Prime Minister also announced an ex-gratia of two lakh rupees each for the next of kin of those killed and fifty thousand rupees to the seriously injured in floods
